Northern Ireland

We went away for a few days to Larne, Coleraine and Derry to visit old friends. While there, they managed to find us new places we had not seen. We were helped by the good weather. Along the shore, one could spot cormorants, breathtaking scenery (including Scotland and the Irish Republic) and the various rocks that make up the Irish coast.

There are many castles and other buildings scattered throughout Northern Ireland

We went out to sea from a beautiful harbour to look at a large salmon fishery in the Irish Sea

Our host also took us to Gleno Falls, Carrickfergus Castle where the Irish Guards gave a great performance with their marching band, and a pub in Larne where they had a beer garden inside a tent

We also visited the NI Railway museum and went in to Queen’s and Irish President’s coaches, and saw a diesel on a turntable.

Even in the Autumn there is plenty to see and do. If you have not been, you should visit as it is worth the short journey to Northern Ireland
